Does anyone know how people use Skin-So-Soft on horses?

Thanks in advance.

Im using it to pull burrs out of manes & tails. I also use it as a 1/2 decent bug repellent. Both ways its cut 50/50 w/ water. It doesnt have to be 'cut', but its main & 'magic' ingredient is mineral oil, so if its not cut it gets thick & slick fast.

Does Skin-So-Soft have the same affects as baby in oil in the sense that it burns horses when in the sun???

NO, havent heard any of that; in fact skin So Soft came out with SPF in it, and people with white-nosed horses loved it. -Apparently SSS with SPF curtailed a lot of chronic sunburned-nose cases.

I have heard this before about the oil, but why is that? And is it in the winter, or just warmer seasons?

My sister-in-law uses it like crazy on their horses. She uses it as a fly repellent. It works ok. But I got that new Bug Block fly spray and really like it better. But she has never had any problems with her horse's getting sun burnt from it. The only problem is that she sprays it all over, and it makes the hair coat really slick! I told her to spray it on after she saddles up!!!

A lady at our barn uses it on her horses sheath - it helps clean it.

It is a great de-tangler and gives the mane and tail a little more shine than Show Sheen.

I never knew it had SPF and puts in more shine than Show Sheen! Coolness.

I'm not sure, but my guess would be that baby oil acts kind of like cooking oil with heat. On the bottle it says in the warning to keep it away from and out of anything over 75 degrees F.
