How do you size a horse for bell boots?

...Guess. Just like you'd size for basic splint boots.

You can try going buy shoe size. A small bell boot will usually fit around a shoe size 00 or smaller, a medium will fit about a shoe size 0-1, a large fits a size 2-3, x-large 3-4-5, xx-large fits about size 5+. I find the no turn padded shaped type over-reach boots run REALLY small though.

When I bought a pair, I knew the horses' shoe size I was going to buy, and went into the tack shop and asked the guy. He said I should get a medium.....ya right! I had a friend who was down in that area for work the following week exchange them for a large, cause they were WAY to small. The velcro just barely touched when I closed them. *sigh*

I go for mediums on my reiner. He's a QH, he's 15hh. But those bell boots will fit on pretty much nay QH unless its small boned or big boned. However there was a 17hh Warmblood at the barn for awhile and the mediums didn't fit him he was more like a large or maybe bigger. But he was big boned.

If you are looking for your horse, I'm guess he'd probably be a medium.
