A situation has come up .. and i dont want to regret my decision

Okay .. I will try to keep this short. But im not guaranteeing anything

Well as I have a few threads floating around about my mare having been put to sleep 2 weeks ago. Well I have kept in close contact with 2 of her 4 previous owners, and I reluctantly had to tell them in the past 2 days.

As sad as those conversations were, something possibly promising has come out of it. One of the previous owners, we will call her Jane, has offered me something that has really got my mind going. Back in 2000, Willow foaled a beautiful WB colt. He competed at Devon in hand a few times and did VERY well. However, as he got older, he proved to be a HANDFUL. He would be an angel one day, then a total lunatic the next; was just very unpredictable. So much that he put Jane in the hospital when her husband said he had to go. She reluctantly sold him. She did not want to keep too much contact with new owner of colt, as she felt she had failed said colt.

Now Jane has offered me the option of this colt .. who is now 8. he is not in her possession, but can make it happen. He is still bad, and I really do not think a horse like him would be what i need .. another bad boy .. however, I cannot seem to totally dismiss the thought. my mom has told me if i want him, we can go get him this weekend. I just do not know if I will be in too far over my head. Its Willow's baby though. She is part of him, the last part of here left here, physically. So I cannot get that out of my mind.

I have ridden A LOT of problem horses before, I have one now. I dont have endless funds for training, but I could get lessons on him. But I also do not know If I will have time for 3 horses that need that much work. I am going to college in a year, but am staying home for it, so its not like I wont be home.

I honestly sort of wish it was never an option. It is proving very hard to walk away from this. I know he is not Willow, and wont ever replace her, but its sorta having a part of her. Maybe I can click with him, and finally figure out his quirks. There could be some hope .. right?

I guess im just looking for some advice here. I know if i dont pursue it, i will always think about it, what if... but im nervous to go through with it and then be screwed with a dangerous horse I cannot do anything with.

I know I shouldnt take him .. But I just cannot get the thought out of my mind. I just think the timing is strange. Jane got a call a few weeks ago asking if she wanted him back .. and now I could take him.... is it "meant to be? .. am i just looking too far into this?

You (and everyone else) may hate me for doing/saying this but I can't help it...

Do you remember when you spoke with the Animal Communicator and she told you that animals sometimes come back to be with you, just in different forms? She said not to turn it away. Maybe this is Willow's way of being with you again?

I really hate to do that to you but that was the first thing I thought of. Maybe your boys need a buddy to get their minds off of missing Willow (especially the little guy who nuzzles her stall guard, can't remember his name-bless his precious little heart).

I'm sorry! It's just my opinion, I've *kindof* been in this situation before, I didn't turn him down but I gave up on him and sold him...I have never forgiven myself. I regret it everyday. I wish now that I could buy him back but I can't afford it with the economy being so horrible. Just don't want you to feel that way in the end.

It's bitter-sweet IMO. Very hard to deal with. All I can say other than the damage I've already done...is just follow your heart. Good luck and feel better. I know how hard this has been on you and I'm so sorry. I'm not that far from you, let me know if there's ever anything I can do. Really. I mean it. take care.

When you say Jane can make it happen are you talking about buying him or are they just wanting to place him? If buying at what price - if he is indeed a handful - he may not cost too much

I think you should go take a look and go with your "gut" feeling - you should know if it would be a good idea or not

Go and look and then decide. You may just click with him. You'll never know unless you check him out.

I think you should go see him and think it over. You'll make the right decision. Never can tell until you've seen 'em in person.

GainingMomento .. thats exactly why its so hard for me to turn this down.

I know he is seriously the last thing I need right now (another trouble maker, but worse than my current). but at the same time, its half willow, so he cant be that bad.

When she said she can make it happen she meant they called her asking if she wanted him back a few weeks ago (due to issues of their own, not him). just to take him back, so it would be at no charge other than gas to go get him. but that is problem two .. he is in WV, and not a place i could go try him a few times.

im just not sure what to do. I think the added stress of a horse like him will do me no goood, but i just cant not consider it. ug its so hard.

I think you should go take a look at least. Otherwise, you'll never know, and may regret it later.

I think you should give him a try, seems that it was in the cards, that he get offered to you....you don't know until you try, he may be just what you need.....if you don't click, you can always send him back....but I have a feeling, that he might be just what you need....the AC said animals come back to you in different forms, this just might be Willow coming back....give it a try...
