Honestly I would say to give him a try. You BOTH may be the answer to eachothers problems.

You were told not to turn him away already. Remember? I think you both need eachother.

I just want to say that being a college student while caring for 3 horses was one of the hardest things I've ever done, in every way possible--physically, financially, and emotionally. When I was in school or studying, I felt like I should be taking care of my barn and my horses. When I was with my horses, I felt like I was stealing time that should have been spent on school. i had absolutely NO social life. I did this for 2 years straight, then I graduated. I couldn't have done it for another year, that's for sure. Even now, working full-time I still dont' feel like I have enough time to work with my 2-year-old, school my greenie, and keep my show horse in shape.

I'm not trying to be negative; but I am trying to help you be realistic. I hope you can come to a good decision for yourself.

OK I have just red the to posts above mine and I did not see the statement about the pro trainers, but I say to still just give him a chance. Sometimes certian horses need certian people. I have had one of thoughs horses, and I have one now. I had a mustang stud, and my fillie Brooke were both beond trainable supposedly, but they would do anything for me. For anyone else. . . . . . well I just hope they know how to stay out of the way.

i see everyone's points here. I really do. But my gelding now was a handful and a trouble maker for the pros he was with, and we just "Clicked" and yeah he will be reallllly naughty if he has too much time off (like a day lol) but we work through it and make it work. I know the sucess i had with him (right now we are in a "bad" moment) but we do work great together. so i guess im hoping it will be the same.

i think what i might do is try to find him a home. but realistically i dont think I can take him. I think I will be greatly disappointed if it doesnt work out, even knowing most likely it wont. And I almost do not even want to try, with that disappointment as a VERY possible outcome. So i think i am going to look around and pass the word out about him. hopefully someone with more time and finances for training is out there looking.

Just for the record, I think that is a really well thought out decision. I never meant to have you think you couldnt do it, but as another poster pointed out & you seem to understand very well, is this because he is a part of your Willow & how hard would that be if it didnt work out?
Good for you for thinking through all the pros & cons, but I hope you know we all understand how this must be pulling at your heart, and walking away, even if you do find him another home is going to likely make you feel bad. Try not to let that happen, at least you took the time to weigh all the options & ask questions so you must do what "you" think is best ...

I think you should go and look at the horse and maybe give it a try as it may work out.

I, personnally, would regret it way more if I never gave him a try. Stop thinking of what might happen or what might not. Whatever happens, happens. Follow your gut and go get Willow's baby.

Just my opinion Good luck with whatever you do.

I third that.

I'm just a person though that when I want something I don't always think about THIS or THAT. I just do it! (Nike....lol)
