Side Saddle

Circa 1890?
Authentic
I have an old side saddle for sale. I can send you pics through email.
Asking $200 (which is cheap) we bought it in the Black Hills in 99' and its just collecting dust at our house. It does not have a stamp on it. But its a real conversation item.

Impossible to tell without photos. I know they are EXPENSIVE to restore.

I'd love to try sidesaddle if I get my excess weight off. No one wants to see a chubby girl hanging off the side of her horse.

OK found a pic in this computer and made it my profile pic, cause thats all I know how to do. There it is. The only thing wrong with it (that I can tell) is that the seat has a split in it. Other than that, good condition. Just needs someone else to take care of it since I don't do it!!! I don't deserve it. LOL

Oh my goodness, shame on you for tempting me with this. Lol, I want a sidesaddle soooo badly, even though I don't have a horse trained in it and have no one to train me (God knows how hard it would be to find someone who rode sidesaddle in Las Vegas). But I need a dressage saddle first and foremost, and then I'm contemplating a western saddle...do you use a regular girth for it? And how do you measure for sidesaddles (gullet-wise and rear-end wise?)?

Lindsayanne , you would be surprised at the size of some of the women that I have seen riding sidesaddle at big shows , they actually look better sidesaddle than astride....sidesaddle is really fun, and you can show dressage at any show and get points for the end of the year...I bet there are hardly any Curley horses being shown sidesaddle, in the states....something to think about...you can find out any information about it from the ISSO (International Side Saddle Organization) just type it into your browser there's alot of info on the subject...Cathy

Check out them on the internet, that can answer a lot of your questions....you use 2 girths. a regular leather one and a balance girth...I am not sure as to how to measure the size...the one that I rode in fit my horse and me quite well, and I really don't know what size it is...my friend got me into it...and it was a blast.....Cathy
