I suppose it might be fun, I've never given it much thought.. just seems, odd, I guess. :P

My friend wants to ride in one -really- bad. She wants to find one to rent for her wedding (though its a long ways off! :P) and she's like one in June this year for grad too, but we have no idea were to find one.

I've ridden one and i've seen a number of people ride on them. There's a little girl that rides an old Arab side saddle at our open shows and I think she's pretty brave. Heck I don't like riding in some of those classes with me just riding plain old hunt on the flat.
When I did get to ride side saddle it was pretty hard even though I was on the smoothest horse in the barn. It was definitely cool though!

I've never been on a side saddle, but when riding western I would put my leg over and around the horn sometimes. Course I never went more than a walk like that. And only on a horse I knew was safe. I find it interesting though. I'd like to try it sometime. I would NEVER get enough courage though to go more than a walk much less jump that way! though I don't beleive i'd ever jump at all.

I ride sidesaddle. I have a 1901 western style sidesaddle that I use for parades and civil war re-enactments.

What amazes me is that back when sidesaddles were "the thing" women were considered the weaker sex. Personally, I'd like to see the "stronger sex" ride like that for awhile...then they'd know who was weaker

I'd like to see that too. THough I'm a type of woman who hates to wear dresses, I find that sometimes its refreshing to wear one on special occasions. I love antique dresses.. This question came up when I was watching Princess Diaries 2. lol. In the movie she has to ride side saddle. They use a fake leg in the movie cuz she can't ride side saddle. the horse spooks and everyone finds out. Its really neat. But In that sceen she's wearing the type dresses I like. (not that I'd wear it. ) but I think they are pretty.

I'll have to make it a point to see the movie...if it were me, I'd use a fake leg too
