I am expecting a foal by him this spring - I bred my HBB+/ daughter to him. He's a great horse, and his percentage of winning offspring is impressive.

What is your mare's breeding? What is her strengths/weaknesses? These are major factors to consider when deciding on who to breed her to.

Matrifik is absolutely gorgeous and has a pretty good attitude, at least he did when he was at the barn I ride at (haven't seen him in about 5 years). He has great bloodlines (Zodiac Matador) and some of his offspring are absolutely gorgeous; I'm a huge fan of Pension who has a really great attitude and loves to work. Mike Whelihan told my dad that he had never ridden a horse like Pension before, he was a small horse, but when you got him in the arena he thought he was the biggest and was there to win. I don't know about other Matrifik offspring but if they all have that kind of attitude, how can you go wrong?

Mtroika.... There is a breeder down in Olympia, WA who has been doing teh Hackney/Arab cross... They trot well, but I think the 'issue' is that it can be a challenge to find a Hackney with a temperament that is decent. They're fairly firey and 'tough' mentally from what I've been told and can be challenging for training... I have not dealt with any Hackney's or 1/2 Hackney's personally, so I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I have heard it from more then one person

I think I would go SB OR Dutchie (Dutch Harness Horse) if I wanted a good cross that seems very marketable.

Emmerson has an 'Aunt' (his mother's mother's daughter ) that is out of a Dutchie and she is the COOLEST mare, I wish her owner would DO something with her. (She lives 5 miles from me, as does Emmerson's maternal grandmother , Annisette).

I would LOVE to have that mare, she is pretty, has a surprisingly LOVELY disposition (her mom, not so much, lol) and can TROT, wholy moly, TROT...

If you go the PB route, what's you're $$$ for a stud fee THAT would give me an idea of where I'd start to suggest, ROTFLMAO... I have a TON of stallion video here at the house a friend passed on to me and it's all "ENGLISH" producing studs .

If suitable Hackneys are hard to find, Raps' breeder did some Connemara-Arab crosses and she LOVES the results.

ther is a half arab/hackney at my barn. he has a great personality, very charming, and when his owner takes him out he is quite hot...but he is stalled for most of the day, and not much turn out.....but he has great knee and hock action. He is comparable to the NSH's that used to be at this barn.
