Show halter, which do you like better? Possible buys.

Well I'm on a search for the perfect halter. I would really like something with rhinestones because I am going to try to go to state this year for showmanship and it's indoors and in the arena the rhinestones look amazing. I really want something new tho and I don't know what color I should go for. Here's pictures of my boy please post anything you find and tell me what you think of what I've picked. Here's pictures of my boy.

I'm open to any price really I just want a really good halter that would look good on him. I don't want to spend an outragious amount tho either so keep that in mind.

I think this is so far my new favorite for a western halter is this one that another user is selling on here. It's so pretty and has the rhinestones. What do you think of it?
WOW! Gorgeous world quality show halter PIC HEAVY

I think I am going to get this one for english showmanship. It's $108 total and I'd get the havana color but what do you think?

help me find the perfect halter please?!

I just bought a headstall made by Schutz brothers. It's not a show headstall, but I'd guess they use the same leather on work tack.

I'm not all that impressed.

For $349.95 you could almost get a Kathy's. They're much better quality if you're going to be spending that much.

idk if you use ebay, but try there! here's a good leather halter with silver AND rhinestones, and a matching lead:

there are some others on ebay, but none of them are of great quality....this one looked pretty good though.

If you are looking for really yummy leather, my absolute favorite leather in the whole world is at Hermes. Unfortunately, they do not have any of their horsey stuff on the website (hermes.com). But, you can call their New York or Beverly Hills stores and the salespeople there can tell you all about their different show halters ... When I spoke to them a few weeks ago, the selection was different at the two stores. The cheapest show halter was $650 I think, and they went up to in the $900-ish price range.

But again the quality is fab. And Hermes' leather goods last forever.

What about this one, its not new but it's a Billy Royal (I think that's a good brand)
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-BILLY-RO...item3a54603d70

I love this one too but I'm afraid this one will look just tacky.

This one is more expensive but I really like the Tory Leather brand. It looks nice. But do you think it'd be too small like width wise?

I would stick to a dark oil halter. I know you want crystals on your halter, but honestly I would get something classic that will last forever. The crystals are not really seen any better because most halters only have a few of them.

I ended up buying a used Circle Y, with sterling silver before the quality changed.

I would check out sstack.com as their halters are pretty good quality, but I believe they are silver plated. Some of Kathy's halters are silver plated as well, but some are not. The price will reflect which one. Wood's also has nice quality halters, not sure of the price range though. Of course you can't go wrong with a Harris or Blue Ribbon, but they are pricey and even used are usually $500 or more.

The best thing is to buy quality used. I think someone is selling a Harris on the PHF for $200 right now, it is older, but classic and will not go out of style. Also check on tacktrader.com.

If I had the money to upgrade to a Harris, I would sell my Circle Y, but right now I don't.

Good luck and have fun shopping.

Oh I forgot to mention. There are two different cuts in show halters, Regular cut like the picture you have in your OP and Congress cut. The best thing is to see if you know anyone that has those halters to try on to see what would look best on your horse. I have a congress cut, it looks good on my guy but he has a petite head. Some larger headed horses don't look quite as good in the congress cut.

Well I have a cheapy royal king brand or something that was like $30 off ebay and I'm thinking about glueing crystals on it to see how it looks. And if it looks good I'll use it for indoor shows and then I'll buy a nice expensive one for outdoor shows.

Honestly if you want a halter that has crystals then find a quality one with one. Why waste the extra money on a cheapy halter just for when you show inside??

Here is a picture I wanted to show you. This is Annelise Kimmel, she has a saddle that looks like this:

http://www.harrisleather.com/index.p...emart&Itemid=1

This is what it looks like while she is showing:
https://proofs.kcmontgomery.com/inde...F-3085-824-0LD

You can't even tell that there are huge crystals on her saddle. And the crystals that are on the saddle are way larger then the ones that are on halters.

If you want extra bling, add it to your show outfit.
