I'm a little confused by what you are asking. Do you mean to each other or to outside horses?

NO.

Neither horse has great conformation, and neither (in my opinion) would be bettered by the other.

I have to agree. I see no reason to breed these two horses together.

For one thing, the stallion according to your website is a Spotted Saddle Horse, which means he's gaited, right? And the mare is a Quarter Horse? Why would you breed a Quarter Horse to a Spotted Saddle Horse? This is not a registered cross and it has maybe a 50% chance of being gaited, so why risk it? The market is not good right now and I haven't see anywhere where such a foal would be in demand. Is the stallion and mare even registered?

Another thing is, just going by the pictures, neither of them has outstanding conformation. Breeding stock should always have excellent conformation and neither of them "wows" me.

And is this the stallion from your other posts? The one with the training problems who is rather hard to handle? If so, I would definitely not breed him. If you can't control him when he is not breeding, then breeding him certainly won't help anything.

Circumstances change and while you may think that you plan on giving the resulting foal a home for life, that may not always be the case. Consequently, unless you want to see it end up in the back of a knacker's truck, make sure that whatever you produce is the absolute best it can possibly be! Even then there is no guarantee that it won't end up in a slaughterhouse, but it will certainly help. While you may love your horses and want to try and preserve them, look at them objectively and recognize that a foal as a result of that cross probably isn't in the best interest for all concerned. If you want the opportunity to raise a foal, just go to an auction yard. You can usually pick one up for well under $100.00 <sad sigh>...and you may very well guarantee it a life. And remember, if you're not part of the solution, you don't want to be part of the problem...

Smile

From looking at those photos you posted...no, I would not breed either horse much less to each other.
While I doubt it.....there is always the possiblility that minds could be changed so....how about some better photos for us to work with?
Post some good full side shots of both horses standing up right with their head and necks up in a natural position and not going down toward the ground.

A pet peeve on mine is people asking for opinions and evaluations of horses and they post photos with the horse standing at an angle to the cameras...and/or it's head is down eating/browsing.
You cannot evaluate a horse from a photo like that.
