| Senior Member | Horses coats get that nice "bloom" from good nutrition and good grooming. If you feed your horse enough, exercise him, and groom him he should naturally develop a "bloom" or shine on his coat. For extra extra shine, some people add black oil sunflower seeds or flax seed to their feed, and there are many supplements out there for coat enhancement. But obviously never start any of these without consulting your vet. |

| Senior Member | Agreed, good nutrition and grooming. We feed our horses about a half to a cup of milled flax everyday with their grains and minerals. Thier coats glow. The flax is also is great source of omega fatty acids which are excellent for the overall health of the horse... people too !!!! |
