Hello! Lightning was born at 6:20pm EST. He is doing very well and mama is great! It was so great to watch the whole thing and better yet we have it on camera! The only issue we had was getting her to stand still so he could nurse. But once we got her to stand still he nursed and nursed and nursed! Anyway, the mare is a Haflinger who we thought was bred to another Haflinger (we bought her open at a Haflinger sale), well she wasn't! We are thinking she was bred to a standardbred. My mare was on an Amish farm until we bought her and Lightning's ears and head resemble a standardbred. Anyway the picture is a little red, he is really a gray color with white legs, and my mare is a typical haflinger (chesnut with white mane and tail). I'll try to get more pictures later!
