Sheltie Puppies: She's in labor

And I'm at work! My mother's at home with her, but I'm stuck here for another 8 hours! She just went into labor (visible labor-the panting, laying real still etc) about 20 minutes ago. Her mother and grandmother keep going over to her whelping crate to check on her!

Eeek... I am assuming your mom and grandmother are well versed in whelping out puppies????

The last litter I whelped out here (I whelped it for a good friend because she was going through breast cancer treatment) I ended up having my neighbor check on my b*itch for me every hour because I got called into work and was HOPING Whirlie would wait until the next day to decide to pop... NOPE, phone call at Noon... "She's having a puppy!" OK, I tell boss, boss says 'don't get a ticket but drive fast!" LOL and home I come. Only missed the first puppy, but neighbor did fine with it, but UGH it's nerve wracking to not be there for things!

I hope you have a healthy, happy litter of fuzzy little sheltmonsters

Oh yes, my grandmother started the kennel more than 20 years ago, and my mother has been breeding for roughly 10 years, and helped my grandmother before then! Thankfully! I was hoping she'd wait until I got out, but of course not.... I tried to get someone to cover part of my shift (I'm a security guard) but it's on too short notice...

Thanks for the hope-that's what I'm hoping as well! She's never had a problem whelping-she's a big ***** (literally...at the top of the scale-almost 16 inches), so she's got the room!

Ahhhh you're totally covered and no need to worry with that much experience at your house Look at it this way, at least you won't be kept up all night/day waiting for puppies to come

Very true! Although, I think I'd rather be there then be at work, waiting for news!

Although, newborn puppies are so cute! *loving sigh* They're so sweet!

I just like them all...really when they get their little needle teeth and are really moving...under furniture and everything!

(Funny puppy story time!) I had a dip container (one of those plastic ones for veggie dip) that I'd let the big dogs clean out (good treat!). I let the two puppies (one little boy-Charlie, and one big boy-Cody) out to play, and the little boy (Charlie!) grabbed the container by the edge, and started trotting this little cocky, arrogant trot around the living room with this container in his mouth (right side up, too!) It was so big compared to him that he had to pull his head back, and his tail was up and he was just so proud of it!

Back to topic: Still no puppies! Although, we have names if they're girls-Ella, Susie or Betsy!

There will definitely be piccies when she has them! She's just in stage 1 labor (which can last for 18 hours!), with no puppies yet! I'm hoping she waits until I get home!
