Shedding

Have your guys started? My mare has started shedding, but she always starts early. She isn't heavily shedding but a bit of hair is coming off. Yuck, time for my overalls so I can come home without being head to toe in HAIR!

Yes. The pretty curls are starting to shed. SO SAD! Even worse, I always wear black at the barn and he's big and grey!

my Tb mare is, too. been shedding out since the end of decembre but she has that "wheatfield in the breeze" kind of long, thick coat. looks like a yak at the moment, matts and all, cos i hate to shed her out too much too soon. gets cold here yet, it's still only february. i know i could blanket her, she even has more clothes than me, but she eats them, and runs away when i bring anything out that resembles a blanket.

Yup, my mare has been losing all her winter fur too (luckily she's half-clipped). Her unclipped bits have gone from hair almost 2" long to maybe 1/2"-1"... At least she's enjoying her grooming these days; she sways back and forth to help itch the really good spots, and gets rather annoyed when I start another section. She went nuts the other day when I was doing her "inner thighs"... apparently that's not an easy spot for her to do herself lol

Does this seem early to you guys? She started shedding heavily over a week ago, so halfway through feb... seems early to me.

(I can't wait for her pretty summer coat!! Yipeee!!!!!!!!!)

Yeppers! Everyone is shedding up a storm right now. I feel so badly for them cause its still getting so darn cold They just don't listen when I tell them to wait a few more weeks! Today I groomed a little when we went out to feed, LOL its was a 'static-ish' day and i think every single piece of hair clung to me as I brushed it off them!

LOL! I know, it was 20* yesterday and regal was shedding all over the place. I told him to stop, then when my trainer walked by said 'Tell my horse to stop shedding, he listens to you!" LOL
