40 acres

1950 Case VAI (should be in a museum!) with original Wagner front loader.

We have mostly used it as a logging tractor to thin the timber on our place for fire protection: skidding trees and pushing slash up into piles to burn in the winter. Once a year or so, we clean out the corrals and loafing shed and spread the manure in the "arena" portion of the corrals. We need to do that real bad right now. Also, I have a blade that slips on the bucket which we use to grade the drive. That needs doing too

It doesn't have a 3-point hitch so we can't mow, etc with it. Since it is an "industrial" model of the tractor, the gears are really too fast. I have another old VA for parts and I've thought about switching out the rear ends, but that is just so much work for an old man like me anymore. Also, the gas tank leaks slightly which means you can't leave gas in it, so I have to pour gas in it and then drain it whenever I want to use it.

I'd really like to get a newer tractor. Something made after 1960 would be nice

We have 37 acres, 30 in trees (pine), and 7 in pasture.
We just bought a 2008 compact tractor, Kubota BX2660, diesel, 26HP, 60 inch mower deck, 4WD, 3PT hitch, with mid and rear PTO.
It's a 'grass cutting' machine, and exactly what we needed to manage our farm.
Love it!!

Actually, I really need to go cut the grass RIGHT NOW!

I used to have tractor envy, now I have my very own tractor that I finally bought this year. It is a 2005 NewHolland Boomer tractor. 45 HP that I use in the field. No front bucket yet, that is next, and a 3 point hitch. I have an old 1930's cultivator which works pretty good and a round harrow that I made myself. Still need a disc and something for seeding. I have 10 acres.

Where do you live?

Do you leave the keys in it?

Kubota BX-22 TLB. Small, 23hp, major workhorse for maintaining our 4 acre property. In addition to the load and backhoe, I have a rear blade, carry-all, post hole digger, chipper/shredder and a small trailer. I also have a 3pt trailer hitch so I can also pull my 5'x8' utility trailer behind the tractor.

Old picture...7 August 2005...digging our small fish pond off the patio. Just outside of the picture to the right is now a 2000 sq ft addition to our house. (and the baby blue siding on my shop building and the house is also gone, gone, gone...) Oh, I no longer use a mower deck on this tractor...bought a ZTR last year to deal with mowing since we use the tractor so much for landscaping and maintaining the driveway.

Here's a couple shots of a more recent landscaping project that this machine did a huge amount of work on, moving earth, limestone boulders, etc., after our addition was competed and we finally had a real front door.

We bought a New Holland TC23, (I think it's comparable to the 1110 models now) 23hp with FEL last year. We have 10 acres, only 3.5 cleared due to insane county regulations. We use it for manure management, gravel, fence repair, landscaping, etc. It's an automatic with hydrostat. I love having the rocking pedals (front and back rather than side by side), they are so much easier to use in my opinion. Beats the hundreds of wheelbarrows of gravel I have moved by hand.
