Hmm...my little orange workhorse does look a bit diminutive compared to some of those monsters that folks use to do real farming! LOL

I don't think it's the 'size' of your tractor that counts!!
Those Kubota's are little workhorses!!
I love ours!

Indeed. My BX22 totally amazes me at what it can do...especially when I finally learned not to "baby" it. I may not be able to pick up 1000 lb rocks, but I still can move them around pretty nicely! LOL Some jobs do take a little longer than they would with a bigger machine, but I can live with that.

Here's our ancient 8n. We used it for bush hogging / grass cutting but find we need more tractor for our 17 acres, so we're retiring "ole red" and are tractor shopping now. Really like Jim's Kubota!

Those 8N's last forever.
But I have to say, we shopped for about 9 months, looked at New Holland, John Deere (which is what we did have, a JD G110), and Kubota.
Kubota, far and away, gave us the best deal, and took our other (John Deere) tractor in trade, for the best 'trade in' price.
The other's might have been a bit 'fancier', but they didn't offer any better, or different features, they were just 'packaged' differently.
And they were both priced about $1000 -$2000 more than Kubota.
We ended up with the Kubota BX2660, w/ 60 inch mower deck.
Good luck shopping!

reddyb, when it comes to compact tractors, the local dealer situation really comes into play. Kubota, Deere, New Holland, etc., all make decent machines with similar capabilities when you compare accurately. In my immediate area, there are three great Kubota dealers and one good Deere dealer. Nobody local has New Holland...at least that I could find at the time. My first Kubota came from the most local dealer and I was very happy with them in every way...including the trade-in they gave me at the time on an older Kubota L-210 that came with our property. Deere didn't have a machine at the time that was of major interest to me and wouldn't deal in a good trade on the older Kubota.

When K came out with the backhoe version of the BX, the BX22, I wanted one and looked to trade in the original BX2200. The local-local dealer I had previously purchased from wasn't being very generous at all when it came to both price and trade-in value. The next most local dealer, just the other side of the river in New Jersey not only gave me $1000 more in trade, they also knocked $1000 off the cost of the new machine. That $2K difference in price only cost me a little time and $110 for the delivery fee.

Then again, when I was shopping for a ZTR to cut the grass things flipped around in a different direction. (The mower deck for the BX is very heavy and cumbersome to install/remove with no paved driveway at hand and it's not good to leave it on when doing serious loader and backhoe work, so I wanted a dedicated mower) My Kubota dealer had K (very expensive) and Hustler. The latter is a nice machine and USA-made. The Deere/Stihl dealer (whom my chain saw came from) carried Skag which is very highly rated. The Deere dealer gave me a price I couldn't refuse.

Kubota has 0% financing right now for most of their machines, so that can make them even more attractive if you have a nice strong dealer nearby. Their diesel engines are also incredible, no matter what the size. The 3cyl 23 hp in my little BX just sings.

A good online resource for compact tractors is tractorbynet dot com. Nice community like this one, too.

5 acres - Use a 2008 Kubota 4wd B2320 (paying NO interest) - we bought a front loader and belly finishing mower with it. LOVE IT! My pastures are GEORGOUS - the mower does a wonderful job. And I use the front loader ALL THE TIME!
