Do you mean shingles? I have never heard of shangles.

i have not had it with any of my horses but i heard your horse gets a temperature from it. i am nt sure of any other signs... I also heard that it can be passed from horse to horse by like sharing water or and thing like that. I hope your horse gets better!! let us know.

if you do a search on the forum, you will find some awesome information. Search is on the upper tool bar on this page. The signs of strangles are: swelling in the jawl (neck)area, decreased appatite, runny nose, absessess in the jawl area may be noticed. Yes it is spread from horse to horse. If you touch a horse that has it, then touch another...it spreads. Anyway...there have been many posts on strangles, you will find what you need in the search. Good luck and I hope your horse gets better.

add a temperary (electric fence is cheap) boundary that will prevent them from being able to touch- I'd add at least five feet as a buffer. I'm not sure if that will do anything- if it only spreads through contact, that should be enough.
