Specifically for those who've made rail shirts, but if anyone can locate the fabric I'm looking for I'll FOREVER be greatful. I need fabric for a rail shirt. I want something with a bit of stretch but also some weight/texture. I'm thinking a Cotton/Lycra blend or maybe a Poly/Lycra blend -- any suggestions are wonderful. Color...WHITE not off-white, not cream -- prestine WHITE WHITE WHITE. I've searched high and low locally and can't find anything but straight cotton or poly -- nothing with stretch unless I want just lycra (of which I do NOT want) I'm worried about buying online -- I want to actually feel (or have someone else) the fabric and know it's suitable.

Check out www.ravistailor.com this is where I bought the fabric for my saddlesuit after I couldn't find it in town. It seems like you might be able to find what you're looking for. They're a custom tailor but also sell fabric by the yard (scroll down on the website). They send you swatches. You can pick up to 20 for $12 (incl. shipping) once you buy the fabric, the $12 is credited back to you. |

About buying online, MOST places will send you fabric swatches. Select a few that you like and they will send you some squares of fabric. If you like the fabric then you can order what you need.

Ok, are there any websites suggested to obtain swatches from? Aside from the one 18thTomorrow posted (btw, thank you muches!) I browsed eBay and found fabric I'm dying to have to make a ratcatcher (white with baby pink pinstripes - uber cute!) but couldn't find much for rail shirts. I guess it doesn't help that I don't know EXACTLY what I want (aside from color) GRRRRs
