UPDATE ON HORSE SLAUGHTER! SEPTEMBER 8TH: NATIONAL HILL DAY TO BAN HORSE SLAUGHTER. COME TO WASHINGTON DC TO LOBBY YOUR CONGRESSMEN AND PUT AND END TO HORSE SLAUGHTER!

Numerous horse welfare organizations, horse rescues and horse owners will attend the National Hill Day on September 8th in order to lobby thier Congressmen and Senators and convince them to support and move forward The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (HR 857 & S. 2352), a federal legislation that will outlaw the slaughter of horses in America as well as the trade and exportation of horseflesh and alive horses for purpose of slaughter.

Meeting and lobbying personally your Congressman and Senators EXTREMELLY IMPORTANT to move forward and get passed the bills to ban horse slaughter (HR 857 & S. 2352) since it is the most powerful tool available to convice them to support these important legislations. In case your Congressman or Senators already support this legislations, to you should still visit them to thank them, and also to ask them to do whatever is in their power to see to it that Representative Goodlatte allows this bill to go forward for a vote!! Please ask your legislator to put an end to Rep. Goodlatte's blockade of this bill and of the will of the American people!! DO NOT WASTE TIME AND MAKE YOUR ARRENGEMENTS WITH YOUR REPS. AND SENATORS TODAY!!! URGE YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME! FORWARD THIS ALERT TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS! The more people attend the day the more chances we have to get the anti-slaughter bills passed!

The day will be the 8th of September and the night before. There will be a meeting to get everyone ready to lobby so that it will be the most effective, on the night of the 7th. We will go in groups on the morning of the 8th. Everyone can leave as soon as their meetings are over that day and they have reported their results back, so you only need to commit to one day and night.

The cost is being negotiated to make it the least costly for all of us and the hotel will be announced later this week. But now is the time to arrange meetings with your Senators and Representatives and to make your flight or driving arrangements. The more of us that show the better it will look to those that are sitting on the fence or on the other side. The cost in time and money is minimal when you look at the benefits of attending. There will also be a drawing for prizes for those attending, so it can benefit you as well as the horses.

It is also very important that you meet your Congressman and Sentors during August. They will be in their district offices until September and this is an excellent chance to speak to them face to face about horse slaughter. Set an appointment and talk them about horse slaughter and the strong arguments to end this despicable practice. If they already support the ban on horse slaughter ask them to do everything they can to stop Goodlatte´s blockade on HR 857. Prepare to bring along documents and your "arguement" to convince them to sign on their support. Again, urge your family and friends to do the same. Please schedule your appointments right away before their schedules are booked up!!

Also keep writing, calling and faxing them on a regular basis. It is very important that we prepare the way to our meetings by flooding them with tons of letters, faxes and calls. Writing letters to the editor to your local papers is also a very effective tactic.
