Well my vet checked the semen after he AI'd my mare, checked for mobility etc... Mine was at 70% + I have been told that is good

My mare was AI'd last Wednesday nite, so its over a week still to wait to ultrasound her. I am thinking I may wait to see if she goes into heat, I am still going to ultrasound her but at least I will have an idea if she is preggo or not is she goes into heat at the end of the month. Then I wont be as nervous going in for the ultrasound.......

Ok so did your semen make it on time??? Update us!!!!

Semen made it here. But after he AI'd her he checked motility and it was less than 1 % so basically it was all dead!!!! I am so unhappy at this moment oh and to top it all off Libby had already ovulated so who knows if she would have caught or not! I am very bummed!

Tina, what was it when he was collected? (Motility that is)? One shot of Lute can correct her having already ovulated 3-4 days after given the shot she should be back in heat and it's very safe for them compared to all the other **** people want to do with their mares to get them in foal.

Yup, still works, lol. There is another stallion that I am in love with... let me see if I can find him...

Seriously though, he is gorgeous, and Even with the motility issues I hope everything goes okay from here on out! I am very excited for you.

AWW, I'm sorry to hear that. It would make me wonder if they know what their doing on the other end. I know some studs just dont ship good but thats so low.

Awww I am sorry!!! That is really a huge bummer! I cannot belive they were basicly dead! How long were they in transport for?? Mine was in Transport for 38 hours!!

So I am hoping and assuming that the breeder will take all the costs you had to pay for this shipment?? Because you shouldnt have to pay for dead semen!!!

Your mare had already ovulated? So she must have recently ovuated.....

Keep in mind this to if she has ovulated already, its not always bad... Not that it matters with dead sperm

"Keeping in mind, mares ovulate between 4 in the morning and 10 AM. If your shipment arrives and your vet says she has just ovulated, do not panic. This is still good timing. The egg will rest in the Ova Fossa for a few days. This is the site of conception. If you inseminate too early, the sperm arrives but are weakened by the time the egg does."

I hope you have better luck next heat cycle! And let us know what the stallions mobility was before it was sent.

That was helpful info!!! Yesterday she had not ovulated so he gave her a shot of something so Ovulation occured between 9 am yesterday and 12:30 pm today when the vet went to do the AI. The sperm was collected yesterday afternoon and on it's way we had it in less than 24 hours and it was put in the mare in under 24 hrs from collection. Now this could very well be an isolated case and something just didn't work out. I haven't heard back from the breeder but I am sure I will by tomorrow.

I agree that I shouldn't have to cover the cost of the next shipment or the shipping cost, this was not our fault!
