WOW! That is unbeliveable. I can't believe that horse didn't go for more...anyone know what the cost to clone a horse is?

That's crazy! next they will be wanting to clone famous race horses....I would love to see how this "clone" does, compaired to the origional horse...Cathy

That's exactly what I was thinking-
One- cloning costs a ton!! Why didn't he sell for more (probaley because cloned horses are unproven yet in the market)
Two- if they can do then what is to stop them from bringing back all the greats in the horse industry. I mean imagine being able to bring back any performance stallion ever!

There is a money winning barrel horse that they cloned not that long ago. He was gelded before he started winning so they cloned him and stand his clone at stud....can't remeber the details of who it is...

Scamper was cloned, is that the horse you are thinking of? I think he belongs to Charmayne James. I could be wrong, but I remember reading something about it a while back.

I don't agree with cloning. Yes genes are genes, but too many environmental factors also go into making any living organism what it is. A clone is going to carry the same genetic make up, but there is no way to go back in time and repeat what the horse went thru in its live that contributed to its developement. Also how many times have there been full siblings out there, on is just outstanding, and the other mediorce. I also don't agree with it because it is kinda like cheating the system.

Personal believes just make me cringe when people talk about cloning. We as mankind are playing with mother nature too much.

Couldnt be said better! I agree with you 100% Im also not for cloning and think we mess with technology too much. I couldnt handle the thought of owning a cloned horse. Yes it would be neat to have.. say Northern Dancer.. but would I really enjoy him as much as I would have if he was the real thing that had a full story behind him.. i dont think so.
