| Senior Member | I saw once on RFD a program called Helicopter horseman. He showed how they did it. There was no white spiked hair crazy doctor with a white lab coat on laughing like a mad man saying 'I AM GOD, Buwahhhaaah'. It was a normal lab that had just showed how to do a ET foal. There were a lot of steps to it compared to the ET foal. But there wasn't much difference when they showed the DNA placed into the egg. It was so interesting! Nothing to 'mad science' about what I saw. But then again I saw a film short of a interview of the people that cloned their bull Chance. They loved that bull and you could see it in their face as they talked about him. A bull they purchased when he was 7. Took him everywhere to fairs and such letting kids ride him. They knew his favorite place in the back yard to lay and rest. Then the day came he passed away. Well they wanted him cloned. Found a lab that offered it very cheap or maybe it was free because the lab themselves were just testing it out themselves if I recall. Either way it was done. A bull was calved and called Second Chance. All was wonderful in their world. The bull even laid where the original one did. Had kids on him and everything. They had their Chance back. Well until the bull one day went after one of the family members. Can't recall which one, but you could tell the wife was looking iffy as the husband still talked lovingly about this Second Chance. He answer to why this happened was 'well because we don't know what happened to the original until we got him when he was 7, so he could have acted like this until we got him' hmm.. ok.. Well the interview was over. The people when back to their hotel. Late that night they got a phone call from one of the family members to come to the hospital. When they arrived the man was in a bed. Here he went out feeding his loving Second Chance and he suddenly gored the old man. I can't recall all that was broken but he was really tore up. He still lay in bed saying 'well wait till he is seven, then we can say he isn't really Chance'. I thought how sad. I guess I didn't really think people would believe they would get the personality of their loved lost one. I wish I could find the video it was SO worth watching. Sorry for my book. But I thought some might find it interesting. |

| Senior Member+ | I don't really know what to think of it. Wasn't there a movie called Godsend or something where these people's little boy dies, and they have him cloned? Then when his clone hits the age the original boy dies, stuff starts happening? I don't know, but it's creepy and I don't think I'd want to do it. |

| Senior Member | blimey! that takes all the skill out of breeding a good horse though... I think cloned animals are a bit fake - i mean, physically and mentally there real enough, but they are litrually just a copy of something that was great before... *edit ....and i can just se it as a money making treee... reproducing excellent horses... they will be like robots 'who owns a copy of "rougen empire?" *a dozen hands go up*

| Senior Member | I don't think I'd like to give birth to myself!Drafterz-I found that very sad and interesting.Wonder if they ever let the bull live till he was 7?IMO the great horses in history should stay that way.In History. They were great for a reason and there is no need to try and bring back the past.

Well I know when I was searching the web for the video again. I found tons of articles of this man and his Second Chance bull on google saying how he was just like the first one and the part of even laying in the same spot as the original. As a bragging point as I see it. Of course that is where the articles stop about it. Nothing about the incidents that have happened that might show this isn't exactly same temperament as the original bull. So from everything else I have seen when searching for this video again. I would not doubt he still has this bull and one day in his mind is going to transform some how into the same gentle bull he once owned no matter what the age of the second bull becomes. I truly felt sad for him. Not only because of this hope, but that he couldn't be happy and content with what he had. | |
