Hey all, I have read so many inspirational topics on here, that I just had to post my own story. The mare I rescued last year was not the horse I had intended on buying when I'd went to look at a gelding I had seen on craigslist. In the picture he was cute and nice looking, but in real life, he was skinny, short and conformationally disformed. This lady that "rescued" horses said that she loves rescuing horses and seeing them change for the better. HA. She had all but 15 horses and didn't have much money for hay or feed. I figured she was trying to do something right by selling her "rescues", but there were a few in the group that obviously had to be separated since they were plump. They were all muddy and she told me that she didn't have time to groom the horses (I understand, you can't fully groom 15 spooky horses in one day), so I went to look at the one I had intended on buying. He wasn't the greatest and I had promised my dad that I would sell the horse once I had trained it. So I looked at a few others including her favorite "grulla" arabian mare on the outskirts of the herd. I went over, looked her over and realized she was the nicest conformational and personable horses in the whole group. It was her against a plump 2 y.o. bay paint stud. I carefully decided that it would be a good experience for me to work with an arab. She came home with me (after much fighting to get into the trailer) and I took Before pics immediately to post online. Here they are: Here are some "In Between" Pics and finally, the "After" Pics She came with strangles, which all of my horses got and sadly, one died from, but she is leaving here with a healthy body, a good outlook on humans and no reason to fear the trailer. I feel so good doing the deed of rescuing that I hope I get to do the same thing again in the future. The horse in the background of some of the pics is my 5 y.o. paint gelding. He's such a camera hog and was constantly fighting for my attention during some of them. UPDATE! SASSY IS NOW FOR SALE...Ad is on Classifieds!
