on this site>>http://affordable-tack.com/english_saddles.htm, so I answered my own question!!!

That right... The rule is theres a two inch difference in English and Western...
If Your a 16" in English... in Western you'd need a 14"
Another example..
Say you ride in a 15" western... you'd need a 17" english..

Whatever your Western seat size... english is two sizes bigger

And Whatever youe English seat size... western is two sizes smaller.

Why do they have to make it so confusing?? LOL

I would say you'd probably be a 17", Im 5'4" and have a 17". There is a way to figure it out by measuring part of your leg I think, but I could be wrong. Ill see if I can find it.

You should be just fine in a 16" English saddle. I'm 5'3, 108 lbs, and I ride in a 16".

Dont forget there are 1/2" sizes. I'm 5'6 115lbs an have a 16 1/2" AP. I was once sold 17" b/c of the symmetrically longer flap, but the seat was a half-pipe when Raps would careen at horse shows (early on, young & fractious.)

Is it possible to get saddles that have maybe more room for the legs and knees but still a small seat? Like for people with really long legs, like me.

i've never paid attention to sizes, but i've just found that different brands and styles of saddles just FEEL better to sit in. i once used this synthetic saddle made of nylon or something, and it was so uncomfortable! just because the pommel was really high and dug in, and it probably didn't help that the horse had really choppy gaits. then i've had saddles that just fit like a glove, were broken in, perfectly comfortable. i've had ones where the little flap that covers the bar the stirrup hooks on stuck out and dug into my leg and drove me nuts. so every saddle is different, you just have to find one that fits you, personally.
