When I rode with a poly pad it was fine at the walk, but once I started posting I could feel some pressure on my finger.

I was thinking some sort of wither relief pad? I'm not sure how thick I need one though.

They're about the same thickness, but the cashel saddles will compress, wintec will not (or very minimally).

Hmn. I had very different fits with the cashel and wintec. Maybe the discrepancy is in placement.

Lol, I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me

I do agree that the wintec pad and cashel pad will result in vastly different fits when applied to the same horse/saddle combination. Though I believe if you measure them the thickness is exactly the same (I could be wrong but I do know that it's close).

I was trying to do neither! I only have my experience, so I guess I was too hasty to dismiss the cashel wedge. It worked great for me, while the wintec seemed to do nothing. They are "built up" in different ways, so it may really depend on the saddle and panels on where they add thickness.

I think we're saying the same thing. The wintec is more like adding a solid piece of wood under your saddle. (Not literally of course). The cashel, while thick, just provides a subtle lift.

I have all my tack packed away, but you can bet I'm going to be digging through it tonight to find these pads!

I'll be the lone voice of dissent and say that it appears to be the correct shape but maybe too wide. I'd like to see it girthed up and without a pad to see how low it gets pulled when girthed, but it's already sitting down pretty low on the wither and when girthed, I think it'll be even lower

I agree.

FWIW, I had the same problem with the Collegiate I had.

Thanks. That's what we've all determined. The tree is right width, but there isn't quite enough wither clearance so I'm searching for a wither relief pad that will help with that issue.

And mytega, if you do find the difference between the two pads, let me know!
