The fix is simple, don't breed them again.

THIS is why I don't understand why breeders are willing to take the chance by breeding 2 Frames together. What is the sense in spending all that $$ on stud fees, mare pregnancy care, waiting 11 months, and ending up with nothing?
I don't understand either, its heartbreaking and I feel horrible for the breeder and for that filly and mare, but when there are already so many risks why take more? This actually should have been more of a vent but I didn't feel like bringing everything up.

Lethal White is actually known as Overo Lethal White Syndrome (OLWS) and happens in newborn foals, the foal is born pure white with blue eyes and even though they appear normal after a while they start getting colic like symptoms, because their lower intestines are usually underdeveloped and contracted. The colic tends to be chronic and usually ends with the foal being put down. Vets will usually recommend that the foal is put down at birth because there is no treatment and no surgery can correct the damage.

As far as I know it happens most commonly in Paints when both parents have the gene for it, usually frame overos but there are exceptions to that rule too. The only safe way to be sure if by doing genetic testing on the parents. It is completely preventable.
