I've always had Welsh breeders tell me that they think Duke carries Splash as well as Sabino. Although he doesn't have any blue eyes, MANY of his foals and grandfoals do.

This is Duke

spots on both sides, and you can't really see it, but about 1/3 of his belly is a big white spot.

These are the faces of some of his kids, only two are out of pinto patterned dams.

Hard to tell about your guy, but of his foals, the one labeled William is Splash for sure, and it looks like Lilly and Shortcake are definitely as well. This certainly lends credence to your guy being one as well!

JBR, can you post the mare's (dam's) pedigree, please.

I still can't get over that Duke is a chestnut!
He looks like a Bay silver in his pictures. I adore him.

According to the website, Tinna's dam, Kwik, is of unknown breeding.

Yes, many of Duke's foals have the "strange" face markings that are a hallmark of splash. His own face marking, the way it falls off to the side, says splash to me.

Welsh are a funny breed and they like to throw color people in tizzies with their unusual shades. This is a relatively typical shade of chestnut for a Welsh.

I see splash for certain. From his right, the white under the jaw that is too much for sabino, from his left the falling off one side of the face and the moustache (quickly changing association from frame to splash for me), and from the middle, the funky shape of the top of the white. Also, while his back legs look very sabino, the front legs look very splash.

Nearly every one of those foals looks splash. Certainly not every dam had it (though it is pretty common on Welsh).

I think he is Splash as well. Only 1 of the Dam's is Welsh, she's chestnut now gray. The other dams are a 3 Haflingers, a bay QH mare of Doc Bar breeding, two that are pinto (Lily and Tok's dams'). William and Shortcake are full siblings.

Genetics are sooooo confusing, but makes every foaling like opening a christmas package. I've never been let down by my boy yet.

I have his DNA from UC Davis (required to be a breeding Stallion with WPCSA) and they list him as Chestnut, but I don't think they ever did the color test, I believe they just went by what was listed.

Duke's sire was a Buckskin and his dam is listed as a blue roan, but I am not positive about that.

Well if that is accurate he can't be a bay silver. I still think he's chestnut anyway.
