Blister's got sorrel spots.. 3 of them to be exact. only thing that, according to other people over the years, caused his hoof to be black and not the white like many of the socked/stocking horses. One of these years, I'll look into that part of the genetics.....I'm still having too much fun with Brown. LOL

Tymac, it doesn't matter what people are looking for. Genetic Sabino IS Genetic Sabino. Some people look for loud sabino, some people don't. It doesn't matter. I'm not talking about marketing at all? What IS Sabino IS Sabino, regardless of whether or not it looks like what sells??

Now I'm not saying that all horses out there with 4 white legs are just chrome, but a good bit of them are.
This is what I was referring to.

ETA--

Look at it this way-- this is what it seems like you are trying to say to me. Let's use bay instead of Sabino.

"We breed bays, but I only like dark bays and that is what sells well. This horse is a light bay, and because it is not the color bay I like and what sells well, it's not bay."

Same thing. I'm talking genotype. What's actually on the horse's DNA. You're talking marketability.

Is the Ermine spotting related to the Sabino patterns?

Yes, they do. Their "normal" socks ARE Sabino. I'm not sure what else you're looking for to make it clear that it's from Sabino. If it's spotting within the white, that can be present but by far does not have to be in order for it to be Sabino. Ermine spotting, whether on the legs or face white, is much less common than solid white markings.

How do we know sabino doesn't cause blue eyes? Blue eyes would be MUCH more common in breeds like Thoroughbreds and the like who have abundant sabino and virtually no frame. There is just too much evidence against that.

ACC
Sabino CAN cause blue eyes when the white touches/crosses an eye. But that feat isn't common, therefore blue eyes in Sabino-only horses, even with face white, even with big fat blazes, isn't common.

How do you know that sabino is the reason for the blue eyes if it cannot be tested for?

ladylove, your gelding is Tobiano for sure, likely with Sabino giving him his face white, and because his markings have jagged edges between the dark and white, I'd say he's likely Frame as well.

Thanks! Good to know. He was apparently a stallion until he was 4.5 years old and did not "throw color" so he was gelded.
