Frames does NOT put white on legs... and in some cases it forces it off. Ever see a minimal tobi who you knew also had frame? It probably had one or more dark legs and the legs that were white were probably low white. Maybe even white coming down the legs and turning dark at the knee or hock. That is frame and tobi's favorite battle to play when they're together (well, besides the face white issue... tobi tries valiantly). So yes, those horses are more than frame. Definitely sabino on the first, very likely sabino on the 2nd.

I just had to throw in my mare that I got here....

Shes sabino without a doubt, shows pretty much ALL the characteristics other than the spots (like..large enough to possibly have her say a min. overo (if i were trying to reg. with APHA).

My point of posting her pic is that her socks aren't high white's, just "normal" socks.

Right. Frame-only has solid legs. It's similar to Tobi-only having a solid head.

I'm not sure about Frame forcing leg white off, as there is no way to know that leg white would have been present if Frame wasn't, and nothing that guarantees a Sabino, for example, would have had leg white.

Pretty classic "potentially loud" form of sabino there. The sock in itself is innoculous... but the face white and that jagged stocking... yeah... classic.

That "theory" has been proven plenty of times with tobiano + frame. There have been instances where a creative mind could quite literally see the battle between frame and any of the white legged patterns. It is sometimes very obvious. I'll see if I can find a good example some time... I know I have one at home.

So you're saying that Frame + Tobi has resulted in some solid legs? Tobi USUALLY has 4 white legs, but doesn't have to. It's rare that they aren't all white, but it happens.

I'll lay money on 99% of tobis you find with a solid leg will test pos. for frame.

That would indeed be interesting to test.

When I have time (which will be scarce until Monday night), I will look for some tobis with one or two solid legs. Most will have been tested for frame, and if not, will have obviously (or proven) frame parents and have frame characteristics themselves (such as a blue eye or belly spot).

I wish I could find the two foals I was thinking of first. Dag nab it.

When I get to that... I will also seek to prove how common splash really is and what it's typical indicators are. I'll bet some of you splash doubters probably INSIST there is no splash in Arabs huh?
