hey i just started roping and got to thinking how many HGS people do roping?also how did you learn how to rope? sorry stupid guestion but still trying to figure it out.

The way I learned was hanging out with a bunch of ropers and having at it.

I can now rope a moving steer, goat, little kid.....

NOw, the hard part is dallying....THAT i'm working on off and on to do it right without taking my fingers off.

Again, hanging out with the people who do it often helps a lot.

I rope some. I taught myself when I was younger and had no patience. I simply had a horse and we had cattle, so I roped them.
I begain again from the beginning a few years ago and really enjoy roping.
I also enjoy the fellowship of those I rope with, for the most part.
I like teaching a good horse to work the rope. For me now, it is not all about catching, but the entire experience. Working the box, the horse putting me in position to may a good throw and the horse working the rope.
My knees will not let me tie down anymore, so I team rope.
