What size rope halter do you need? I might have one or be able to get on to work for you.
Interesting! There must be quite the array of colors there, that would be fun to see in itself.

Well right now I use a nylon halter made for a large horse, and it JUST fits him. I never thought having a horse with a huge head would be such an issue in the western world!

I use rope halters when training on the ground, teaching how to give to pressure, starting horses under saddle (tied into a hackamore), etc.

I only use nylon halters with horses that know well how to give to pressure when grooming and leading.

Rope halters aren't new. Does anyone remember the 'old' Johnson Rope Halters?

I don't often use them--but I work with some horses who will break a regular halter, but respect highly a rope halter.

I do like them--I just don't use them unless necessary, because they're ugly.

I use a plain ole nylon for everyday handling

use my rope ones for any training I do or for horses that like to pull and break stuff when tied

I use rope halters almost exclusively. The only time I use nylon or leather is if I am hand grazing (don't want the dufoids to step on the loop) or if for some reason they have to be stalled wearing halters overnight (don't want them to snag it somehow), when they're getting their feet done or any other reason I may want to use a chain, or during halter classes at shows.

I love them because they are economical and effective, great training aids, and for the most part fit a variety of horses. I also think they are nice looking, count me among the minority lol

I have 2. One has knots on the sides of the nose and I believe it was called a hackamore rope halter.... But it doesnt look like a hackamore to me. Anyways, these are what Parelli recommends.

Does anyone ride in just a rope halter and macate reins?

Aesthetics aside, why do the people who advocate rope halters like them so much? What makes them a more effective training aid than a regular nylon or leather halter? Do they have different pressure points, or is it because of how much thinner the rope is? Just a couple questions from someone who's never tried a rope halter before
