Ring Bone

Has anyone's horse had/have ringbone? Our older QH has it and it is quite frustrating. Some days he is great. Other days he is off. We have the farrier working with our vet doing what can be done with the shoeing part, and he is on Cosequin supplement. Has anyone had luck with anything else?

Don't know. I am not familiar with it. It is near his pastern near the top of his hoof, near the white line. Does that make sense? I saw it on the X-ray but the vet didn't specify if it was "high" or "low".

This is most likely "low" ringbone. Low ringbone occurs on the coffin joint while "high" ringbone occurs on the pastern joint. Conformational problems, long periods of excessive concussion, improper shoeing, and improper nutrition over the years are all causes of ringbone. Pretty much what you are doing, as well as rest and anti-inflammatory treatments are about all that you can do at this stage.
