Ridings influences???

hey everyone!
I was just wondering what you all think about what riding influences? Like does it promote being self-reliant (sp) does it help you suceed in other things... in other words how did riding change what kind of person you are (sorry if i sound like an idiot , its just kinda a topic i throw out to a lot of ppl)

**i think its made me a lot more self-reliant and responsible. Its taught me so much about other living things, and how to balance out my life between school and other things (like riding).

Wow i must sound like an idiot lol

Riding has taught me responsibility. Taking care of another living thing. Its taught me teamwork... neither my horse or I could barrel race w/out the other. Its taught me a lot about campanionship, dedication, and love. Its taught me about passion.

Okay now that I've sounded like some cheesy hallmark card I'm done.

I would say, love, trust, dedication, responsibilty as Expressa said how to take care of another living thing, patience (for training my horse), and compainship. But most of all how to bond without words.

Luv u Way!!!!!
lol. Good question. =)

Riding has influenced me to live. To stay clean. Drugs and riding don't mix too well. And I liked riding more so it has helped me to quit and live a much better life.

It's taught me a lot about responsiblity, working with horses has gotten me over my fear of them. Two years ago I wouldn't even go near a horse. It's also a place where I can find a lot of inner peace. Nothing is so soothing to me as brushing and loving on my horses. They don't talk back to you, they'll listen to any thing you want to talk about without judging you, and they love you with all their heart.

Well it's not only how it has influenced me and my life decisions, but it has gotten me through some really rough times. Didn't have the best childhood and I could deffinatly see myself giving up on life it weren't for my horses. It taught me how to love again when my heart was broken, it taught me patience when I was in a hurry, it taught me understanding, it taught me courage (now if headed for a 5'+ jump on a nutty WB/TB isnt courage I dont know what is......) it taught me how to hold onto what I thought was important at hard times, it taught me the importance of practice and persistance, it taught me how to stay dedicated when I felt like giving up, it taught me that even though some friendships are short lived there are some that will last forever, it taught me how to forgive others worng doings and mistakes, it taught me that when you are really down you dont need words for comfort - sitting in complete silence with your horse nibbling your hair is always better, it taught me that no matter who didnt want me or love me in this world - my horses would always be there waiting for me, it taught me team work is always better than trying to go two different directions, it taught me how to live and love life with a passion!
