riding stable rescue

Okay my family and I took a vacation this past week to Heber Springs and while we were there we came acroos a old riding stable that was selling most of their horses..and I've been looking for a new horse, so I stopped by..well all the horses are thin...at least 100 pouds underweight...and all they have to eat is hay...no grass...no grain..just hay...and there are I think 3 mares that have had babies..and they are only 3 years old...or the one i was very interested in was 3..and I asked them why she was so skinny..and they told me that nursing was the reason..but my mare recently had a baby..and she's fat and sassy....they are selling the one i'm talking about for 300 dollars...and she is really really nice...and kid broke..and at only 3...and what i want more than anything is to just get her out of there....but what about the other horses...? I just don't know what to do..I don't know who to call about the situation..but i'd love to have the mare...she is a mustang and very very laid back<3

I would get the mare!

As for the others I'm not sure if the authorities would do anything as they are fed, watered and have shelter

Most horses that are underweight will be very quiet and laid back.

Lilly was very ill when I got her and she is a very well natured baby now that she is healthy. I think they understand that a person is helping them.

This mare could probably use good worming plan, as well as some supplements to get her back up. Id give her a few months just to rebuild herself.
Hay isnt a bad thing to feed a mustang. But if they have poor teeth, and worms, it doesnt matter what you feed them, they wont get the nutrition out of it.
A vet check would be the first order of the day, to give you an idea of her condition more. But mustangs can be hearty, add to that she is young, and has a better chance of getting better. I'd say buy her. I paid $65 for Lilly, and Dunny was free. Granted, they will never be show horses, but they are fine for myself and my family

Let us know what you decide. Good luck
