Riding in Shorts?

I rode in shorts for the first time today. Well, let me clarify. The first time in a saddle. I ride bareback in shorts all the time.

Anyway, to the point of the thread, I loved it. I was wearing cotton knit shorts and half chaps. I felt like I could really feel what my legs were doing (I have a bad habit of letting my knees 'gap'). And my legs were incredibly still and quite. Not sure if it's because I wasn't fighting against the pants or because it was a subconcious fear of friction

Just wondered if I was incredibly abnormal or what.

Hmm...I was never able to experience that, because I'm always distracted by how uncomfortable it was with the leather chaffing and such.

I love riding in shorts, just dont try and shave your legs afterwards

I ride western in shorts most of the time but english I cant without tall boots because the leathers pinch me.

I thought that would be a problem as well, but it wasn't. I actually think I would have been just fine without the half chaps. It's just such a habit for me to put them on.

When I ride in pants, I always feel slippery or tacky. Nothing is ever 'just right'. Skin on leather seemed to be the perfect combo for me.

I have very sensitive skin, and there is zero chaffing or rashes yet from my experience. I actually do get rashes from riding in pants due to the cloth rubbing against my legs.

I've never ridden in shorts before
but riding in sweatpants is REALLY comfortable
(even bareback!)

I tried riding in capris (capri, capree??) once without half chaps, never again. I got such an awful leather burn. I can't imagine riding in shorts. Either jeans/half chaps or capris/half chaps

Same here, I rode once in capris and it was awful for me too!

I wonder if the type of saddle, or just the saddle in general makes a difference...IDK. But either way, I'm glad it worked for you, Dawn!

Lol, me too! I just thought it was very odd.

It was so hot out today. And I wanted to hop on for a quick ride but didn't feel like changing.

Have you ever rode in a sqourt? Ya know the skirts with shorts underneath, its quite hilarious really.
