Riding in foul Weather????

OK for those of you that are diehards like me and can't afford to loose training time just because the rain is pouring and the wind is blowing outside and you can't get to an indoor arena, what do you do to stay dry???

I wear my lightweight goretex, water/windproofed rain coat and my helmet with the hood over that, and my boots are waterproofed leather Ariats, but I'm really leary of trying to ride my young, unpredictable mare in my slippery goretex rain pants, but I'm also NOT enjoying being SOAKED ot the skin on my legs when I'm done...

SO have any of you tried any of the winter riding pants that are also WATERPROOF??? Not Water RESISTANT because those will still be soaked, it just takes 10 Mins instead of 5 to get to that point...

Ideas, opinions, etc very much wanted! TIA!

You could try taking an old pair of jeans or riding breeches and covering them with the water proofing spray from sporting good stores.

Could you get yourself a pair of chaps, and treat them with water repellent?? Sounds like you got all your other basis covered !!

OH I never THOUGHT Of that idea, I have a pair of full seat Breeches that I could 'sacrifice' for that effect since I'm not overly fond of them, they're a bit short in the leg and a bit big in the waist, lol..... Maybe try the wash in Nikwax stuff that you can use on blankets??? Good idea!

I'm actually thinking about asking for a pair of full leather english schooling chaps for my B-day, so that might be an option as well, although the chaps I want are about $350 so I don't know if I want to risk ruining them, lol...

I also was going to suggest that. We did that with our jackets and such.. spray with waterproof spray.

I have a pair of the Irideon winter pants, they are so comfortable and warm, and I spilled a whole bucket of water on me last winter and stayed totally dry. They aren't cheap, but if it meant not having to wear three layers to stay warm and slide around in my rain gear, it was worth it for me. Kerrits also makes a good winter riding pant, but I am pretty sure that they are just water resistant.

I'll go buy some Nikwax wash in today when I go pick up bedding ... I am sitting inside watching it just POUR outside HOPING it lets up some what later today, but I"m not hopeful the National Weather Service report isn't too hopeful for a 'break'... and Dancer had YESTERDAY off, so she NEEDS to be worked today... ugh, I hate the drowned rat feeling, lololol...

OK that is what I wanted to know!!!!!!! Someone told me they like their Irideon pants but weren't sure if they were water resistant or Waterproof!!!!!!! Again I'll spend the money if I can stay DRY I just don't want to spend the money on something that will NOT keep me DRY, lol..... and I'm REALLY not into sliding off my green broke Arab mare because I had my slick Goretex rain togs on!!!

I don't like to ride in rain but I will ride in snow. I put on two or three shirts and my hooded sweatshirt. Thermal socks under my boots and tights under my pants.
(Sunshine has her winter woolies and usually she can keep my warm too!)
