Riding Bareback

I've never ridden bareback before (... i really wanna try one day) and I was wondering what you all think of it. How does it feel?

I love it! Great workout for your legs, as well. Really helps working on your balance.

But remember, don't use the reins for your balance, either!

It depends on your horse For instance, if you have a stocky horse, they tend to be more comfortable to ride than let's say, a high withered skinny thoroughbred. If you feel like you have enough control over your horse in the saddle, it's a wonderful experience, like cowgirlkayt mentioned, especially in the winter

I ride bareback on occasion and love it. Although my legs tend to be pretty sore the next day, it's really a good relaxer for me from working the horses undersaddle

bareback

Used to ride that way frequently, best way to learn balance, and divorcing hands/body. You really feel every nuance of your horse, but sad to say I am older and fatter, and that really throws you off, especially if like me your weight gain is in thighs/rear.

But being built like a tepee, I sit good in gale force winds, and don't tip over. But I really would like to again, maybe......
