everybody just cross your fingers that what WE did works... I have faith in RIck and am building it in Jessie.. it just takes time but I learned a valuable lesson this time around ... I really could have screwed her up ... next time I will use patience and not doubt my highly compentent farrier...

BTW for an old fat guy he can move pretty quick...Sassy got sick of us and pulled back and he got out of the way of that nail and didnt' get hurt by it

Never thought to brush is off for the photo, but assuredly, it was brushed away when the orthotics were applied. That said, as you will see, it is possible for that area to pick up some debris but it will not be an issue.
Rick, I didn't mean that YOU left the gravel! I was wondering if the guy that shod her last night left it there and shod over it! Having seen the pics of the job you did today I am quite impressed. It's wonderful to meet a man that actually walks his talk! Peggy and Sassy were REALLY lucky that you came to the rescue!

ROFLMAO Peggy, my old age moment forgetting that she was reshod last night couldn't possibly be from being awoken in the wee early hours this morning by a truly stressed out mom could it?

That's great that you'll get a setup where Sassy can get out more. Free choice movement on appropriate footing is so important to getting healthy feet growing

It is wonderful that Rick was able to come and help you and the horse. Poor things. I know how much a sore footed horse is to deal with.

I hope to continue to read improvements through out the next 48 hours You're very fortunate to have Rick close enough to your area to be able to come in person and assist you and even better, IMO, is that it sounds like you have a younger farrier willing to admit that he does not know all and is willing to seek assistance and hopefully is soaking up every once of learning opportunity afforded by having someone like Rick come out

You knwo I keep coming back and looking at how she was standing yesterday morning and I cry I am sooo relieved that Rick was kind enough to bestow his knowledge and help to Sassy and me... I don't know what I would have done without him and of course Jessie for being a big enough man to admit he needed and wanted Rick's help....

Peggy.....The proof is in the pudding as they say. Nothing like success to prove a theory is correct. Rick sure stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. The results are impressive.
What is also impressive is Rick working with your farrier, sharing knowledge to help the younger man learn.
Experience is hard to beat. Successful experience can not be beat.
Good job all the way around.
