One of the only equine rescues I know that takes in any and all horses needing homes. Most of their horses are permanent residents: a 30-something mother/daughter team, a gelding (who was a stallion) that was hit by a tractor trailer on I-75, retired jumpers who are unsound for any riding, a mule found in a state park being eaten alive by feral dogs and maggots, etc. You get the idea. She is truly a caring and loving person with all people and animals.

I think Another Chance for Horses is a good organization...but they are so darn far way from me.

In Texas, Habitat for Horses/Lone Star Equine Rescue is a good one.

I support www.equineadoption.com.
Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation, Inc. is completely voluenteer based and helps soo many horses every year. They have a great staff and I'm hopefully hearing from them soon about adopting a horse off this site.
They are located in Pittsville Wisconsin.
(vote for them in the Care2 competition? PM me for details ;] )

All permanent resident horses, some used in schooling/training program, and 4H.

I 2nd Saddlebred Rescue! They do a fantastic job of evaluating and rehabbing the horses they rescue, the majority of which come from the New Holland sale, finding just the right "forever home" for each, and providing loving care and attention to all the horses until they can be re-homed.

It's sad that our area only has one horse rescue program, but they are doing a fantastic job!
Take a look! http://pgequinerescue.com/
