Rescue Pony

Today I went to vist a pony I rescued 2 years ago.

To make this short - 2 years ago I found a pony ion a small piece of land with no shelter - in the middle of a very bitter winter. He was in very bad shape.

Called rescue services - they couldnt trace his owner. (I could say a lot of things about the inadequacy of rescue services however that is not the point of this story)

I left a note on his field gate with my mobile number saying I wanted to buy him. A week later I got a phone call - I bought the pony for £100 - after much haggling.

Kept him for a couple of months till he was doing a bit better. Found a home for him.

I have only seen him about 3 times since then. So today when I went to vist I was so happy. He is looking really great and is a very happy and well loved pony - he was racing about his field with his little shetland friend - they looked so cute!

Has anyone else got a happy story of rescue horses/ponies?

That's a great story Sammy. It must of made your heart warm to see him doing so well and to know you saved him from a terrible life and gave him a chance at a better one.

Oh thats wonderful

Its more then warming to see your efforts and love pay off.
I think the best story I have is from the carriage company. The horses were in sad shape to say the least. I worked at the comany and witnessed many things, unable to get animal control to do anything, I went to the press. I wrote letters to everyone I could think of. Including the television network the company had a contract with.
After a lil over a year, the horses care increased 100 fold. They had shelter, plenty of water, and feed and were checked on reg.
I still drive down there to see them from time to time. I wish I could walk up and talk to them, but the owners arent real happy to see me.. lol To bad for them

The horses are in a better state and thats what matters.

I have a story about a rescued dog, but I don't think that's what you're looking for...

It was so great of you to take all that time to rescue the pony. I've always admired people that try to help out animals.
