OK. That was way too much fun.

Trail ride people, come here to share your photos and experiences...

I for one had a great time hanging out with everybody and meeting peoples' horses. We all rolled in around 2:00 to Kim's place (CowGirlUp1833) and it was a hilarious sight...horses and trailers everywhere all over her yard, tacking up, longeing, laughing, trying to figure out who everyone was!! For me it was weird and cool to realize that there actually ARE real people behind all the silly screen names There was lots of excitement and spirits (both people and horses) were flying high...

...some of them, too high. About an hour later found us mounting up getting ready to head out when near-disaster struck. Kim's horse Skinny had been a booger all morning...apparently he was just too stimulated with all the extra people and horses, because as Kim was mounting, he launched her and took off running...around the yard, and then, in spite of efforts to grab him, he escaped and ran off down the two-lane paved road.

I was terrified and started praying, as Kim and her boyfriend Jim hopped in their car and took off after him. Skinny was HAULING...Jim said they were going 50 miles an hour. Over a mile later, he tried to stop and basically tripped all over himself (i'm told...I wasn't there) and scraped himself up pretty badly. Just like that, Kim said, he came back to his senses and walked up to her. He's got a lot of road rash, probably going to be pretty sore for awhile, but seems to be mostly OK, considering it could have been a LOT worse. So Kim started walking him back.

Meanwhile the rest of us milled about in the yard. When Jim came back with the mostly-good news, we decided to set out anyway. I was thankful that I had been out trail riding with Kim on Tuesday, so I knew the area and the trails we were going to be on.

So Kim headed back to the barn to take care of her doofus-horse and the rest of us rode about a mile down the road to the wooded park and trails. The woods were beautiful, the horses all handled the trails very well, we had a great time, and headed back for our BBQ. Jim grilled the meats for us, we had lots of good food, and enjoyed shooting the breeze about basically everything under the sun (but mostly horses).

I loved getting to meet some HGS friends and legendary HGS horses, such as lilrider's Stormy, the 28-going-on-2 Arabian gelding. It was just a great day with great firends.

Well I didn't get any pictures... I know bad bad me...

But I JUST now got home lol! I am EXHAUSTED. But that was an absolute blast and I can not wait to do it again. Only this time I vote we go closer to us Indiana and southern Michigan people lol. 2 hours each way pulling a trailer is exhausting mind body and fuel wise.

I had so much fun meeting people and meeting peoples horses, it was great. Everyone did so well on the trail ride, no problems even with the boardwalks which I might add are tiny little bridges that are too narrow for a horse IMO lol.

I am proud to report that Dreamer conquered her fear of water and went chest deep into a lake with me on her lol! It was on purpose though lol.

Can't wait to see your pics Marielle! I think we all did a little bad about getting pics except for Brittany and Marielle with all the excitement of loose horses and such I forgot my camera in the truck.

And anyone who missed it, never fear. We already were discussing where to have the next ride at later this summer

I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking the same thing. I don't judge others on whether or not they do, but I have to admit I smile a little inside when I do see them. I'm one of VERY few people at my barn who wears one. Out of about 40-60 riders, I think there's 4-5 of us who wear them.
