That's great news! My mom had back surgery in 1992 and she still hasn't recovered and she never will.

ladida...that is very SHORT recovery time. The old style back surgeries you'd be in a brace for 6 months, therapy for 6 more months, and another year before you can even THINK about lifting your english saddle. 2 years of NOTHING. Which is the surgery I was looking at in 1998.

My mom had the SAME issue as I have, so I'm hoping the day that I give in and have my back surgery, I get the same kind as she had. I am like in awe that she recovered so fast. She has been working for the past 10 months, lifting for the past 6 months (lifting like 10 lbs) then lifting 30 lbs). Now she's cleared to go back to full Nursing duties.

That's great news. She must be so happy to be able to go back to having a normal life.

Thats great news! My x-fiance has 4 bulging disks and a degenerative spine (hes only 25) Poor guy the doctors couldnt belive the shape of his back for such a young guy. He went to many many doctors and specialist and they said he could not get surgery and wasnt a candidate for the disk replacement surgery. So he is basically stuck on painkillers!!! Too bad he couldnt get what your mom got! Thats great news about her!

Thats great for having a year recovery period. I bet it is a relief to her that she can do things again. How restricted was she in the movement? Was there other things she could do besides lift?
