He is gorgeous! I take it you want a critique?! The only thing i can point out is that he doesnt seem to have the traditional dished, broad but very short head and pointed mouth. He is LOVELY though!!

| Full Member | has nice thick legs and a typical Welshy look. when he fills out, he'll be a nice little pony! maybe he could be a little more dished in the face, but i think you can tell his dead set Welshy..

Sorry... doesn't look Welsh to me either... particularly not for a section A. :-( ACC |

While his body is typical welsh, I am not fond of his neck at all. It is very low set and almost a ewe neck. Not what you want for the breed, you want a topline that flows into the withers with a lovely arch to the neck. I'm actually OK with his head. Yes, he is going to have a straighter profile than desired, but he does have that typical refined muzzle and large gorgeous eye of the welsh breed. I think when he matures and with proper work you can somewhat correct the neck enough to be competitive in working/undersaddle/harness classes, but he will never win in the halter ring. May I ask about his breeding?

He's a really cute boy. The biggest thing that jumped out to me is his neck. He appears to have a low set ewe neck which will make it harder for him to build up that topline.

| Senior Member | Of course, but with his ewe neck when he starts U/S he'll have to work 2x harder then the average horse to engage his topline. |

| Senior Member+ | Yes, but still. Welsh ponies, no matter their age, are not bred to have a neck like that. This is a weanling section B colt I showed in hand a year ago. Section B and section A are very similar conformation wise which is why I am using this colt as an example for the neck. ![]() http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b4...C/DSC_0027.jpg See how the bodies of the two babies are the same, yet the necks are different? IMO the baby the OP is asking critique on will not outgrown the ewe neck, but, with proper work he can mask it.
