My sisters horse absuloutely FAUGHT putting the bit in her mouth, she would shoot back fling her head and clench her teeth. There were no teeth problems, the saddle fit her and my sister is soft with her hands in the saddle, so no problems pain wise. Sugar just associated the bit with working and Sugar is a lazy bum!
We switched trainers and she taught us what IIIBars said, the heads down cue, then calmly bridal her. It took some time for the first waile but it worked like a charm! Also, my sisiter started to bridal her every night in her stall the same way, as well as just bringing her to the hitching post bridaling her repeatedly and not riding. Now sugar is a modle student in how to put on a bridal! It really works and is a cure, rather than a quick fix.
