Question for our Mates Down Under. Brumbys

Does anyone here have or has ridden a brumby.

I have always thought about what they might be like since I was a little girl - and so I am curious.

A friend of mine had a brumby foal.

Our brumbies are probably your mustang equivelant.

Many of us have probably ridden a brumby, just didn't know it.

My girlfriend lives in the Snowy Mountains of NSW..(actual Man from Snowy River country)

She traps, handles and breaks brumbies to sell off.

Recently when I was there I was lucky enough to see two separate herds of Brumbies in the wild. One Bachelor herd, and on Stallion/Mare herd.

Most brumbies are quite small averaging 14hh. the higher the altitude the smaller the horse.

Because she is so high up, the horses she catches are small..so therefore I didnt get to ride either of the two she had in for breaking....

Now look at that - no wonder I used to dream about them when I was a little girl - how gorgeous is he.

Thanks all for the info - they have always fascinated me - maybe one day I will get to actually ride one.

AUS and NZ are on my wish list for travel.
