| Senior Member+ | Question about Dr. Bristol Bits Hi. I am currently using a Myler Level 1 comfort D-ring wild barrel snaffle bit. Yesterday, I bought the same Level 1 D-ring, but instead it has a Bristol Snaffle as a mouthpiece. This second bit is intended for the show ring. Sometimes my horse can get a little bit stronger, and the saleslady said that it would sharpen him up, and make him more attentative in the show ring. I mean, he isn't running away, but I hear that if you switch bits up, it changes up the consistency for the horse, therefore making them pay more attention. Now...I know the best way to find out is to try it...but does anyone here have any insight on Dr. Bristol mouthpieces or Myler Bits? Thank You in advance. -Kat ![]()

| Senior Member+ | I have no "preference" on maker or brand. A bit is a bit.... Can you post pics of the bits you are speaking of? I can tell you more based upon a picture between the two and if it would be wise to switch between the two at all.

| Senior Member+ | Horses will find the different mouth pieces different and some slight "retraining" may be needed. But switching between the two wont' be too difficult, but I personally wouldn't do it if you are doing the same thing in show as you are doing at home. Why ruin what you got done training?

| Senior Member+ | Thank all of you. I promise I am very gentle with my hands. I mean, I can take it back, but I really want to see what kind of response I get from him. Thanks again for the help.
