Question about coat color?

This is just a question i have had in my head for a while and people usually laugh at me when i ask so try and hold back ok? Here we go:

I know that some feeds will make the horses coat darker in color, does anyone know if there is anything to feed to make them lighter?

Probably a silly question but i will see what you all think.
Thanks

what kind of lighter? What color is your horse's coat now and what color do you want? There are color enhancing shampoos and stuff, that would probably help a little, but I'm not sure, lol sorry

Checal International (the makers of Black as Knight) Have a product called white as snow...if that's what you are looking for.

Or, if it's a chestnut, cremello, or another dilute, Cheval's Gold-As-Sun really brightens them.

Just leave them out in the sun. LOL My black arab turned red in the summer since he is outside.

Now let's think about this for a moment....Besides natural fading in the sun, can you get your own hair to lighten without chemically altering it????? No. You can't change your own diet to change your natural color, so you can't do it with your horse either!!!! Sorry!!!

You can "naturally" bleach the hair, but I wouldn't recommend it. I boarded with a girl many years ago who had a palomino and showed in AQHA shows. Her paly had a couple of darker spots which she would regularly bleach with peroxide She made it white one day and it was all I could do to not laugh.

Nope, not that I have ever heard of! Most people want their horse's color enhanced or darken .

If you really want your horse lighter, just give him/her more time outside in the sun (making sure to have some shade, water, etc. so they don't get overheated). You would be surprised how quick that fades a horse!

Thanks everyone for your advise.

The reason i was asking is that everyone thinks that Zena is a dark buckskin or a brown buckskin. She looks like a really light bay but the tone is just not like a real bay, it is more like a buckskin. Under her belly she is a really creamy colour and it darkens as it comes up.
Even though her feed is making her colour darker, it is she is looking so good, everyone where i adjist has commented on how good she looks. Truth be told i don't really care what colour she is cause she is just gorgeous.

Thanks for your help
