QH gurus - pedigree help, please

I just purchased Sarahs Sweet Chick. She's a reg. Appendix QH. All Breed Pedigree Query=

She came as a "package deal" with a stock trailer and round pen. We want to sell her since we don't "need" another horse. What does her pedigree tell you about her? She needs her feet attended to desperately and she needs some weight and muscle. Am I like the people on Antiques Roadshow that buy something for a quarter at a garage sale and it turns out to be worth $$$$? Or is she just worth the quarter? The lady I bought her from made sure I knew that her lines go back to Poco Bueno. I acted duly impressed, but I have no idea what that means!

Thanks for your help!

Top side is speed horse lines. Love Swoon's son and Loon. Both have been influential in QH racing lines.

I haven't kept up much with QH tracing in the past 10 years or so, but still I don't recognize the up close horses as having raced much.

Three Chicks and Bar depth Both Three Bars line horses and speed horses.

Dam's side
More running lines with the TB on the top of the damlines and some working cow horse/Ranch horse types on the bottom side.

Over all this mare would probably do best in Speed events. With her Body type, she might go english also.
As for Price couldn't tell yet.
1. Is she broke to ride?
2. How's her temperment?
3. What has been done with her?
4. Has she had any foals?

she's not immediatley bad looking but with out more info it's hard to put a price on her.

Thanks, Top Dun.

Yes, she is broke to ride. Hasn't been ridden much in the last couple of years so is green broke. The previous owner's 11 yr. old daughter rode her only in the round pen because neither had the experience to be let loose in the pasture.

She was very calm when we purchased her but, of course, she's been very skittish here. It's only been since Friday night. She's got lots of energy, seems spooky (I don't think she's seen sheep and goats before!), needs a refresher on ground manners and tying. The little I've done with her so far, though, she's picked right up on. She's very alert and inquisitive.

I don't know what was done with her prior to 2001. Since then she's just been a pet and ridden occassionally.

I don't know if she's had any foals. She'll be going to the vet for shots, etc. hopefully this week.

I just put her out with the others today after being penned next to my pony and gelding since Friday night. Her feet probably haven't been trimmed in a year so it's hard to evaluate her movement until those toes are trimmed! Even so, she's very graceful compared to my stumpy pony and stocky gelding. Such skinny, delicate legs!

On the dam's side of your mare's pedigree, the stallion Swift Solo is a familiar name to me as he sired a stallion named Barry Swift who was quite successful in the show ring ( AQHA Champion; Superior Halter; Superior Western Please; Points in Reining and Hunter Under Saddle; Sire of Superior Halter; Performance; ROM's - Open, Youth & Amateur; Futurity Winners; World Qualifiers; NSBA Money Earner).

Our ex-stud was also from this line...very trainable and easy going disposition which he passed along to his offspring.

Barry Swift info links:

Here's some links that pertain to Barry Swift related horses:

Woodlawn Farms - The Telford Family - Quarterhorses, Barry Swift grand-daughter for sale

Ogilvie's Registered Quarter Horses Stallion Page

Olgivie Farm - Horses for sale

Barry Swift - Foals

Hope this is helpful.

Take care.
