QH being ridden English

minor vent
Im a little annoyed with peeps and there views on QH. My bff who lives 5 blocks down from me is convinced QHs may only be ridden under a western saddle and so do a few peeps I know here. Mabey they arent the greast at dressage or other english events but they can do it! Brat is a QH and frankly I think he preforms best under an english saddle!! Mabey he isnt the best looker in it but he can do it. If a horse shows talent why should it be wasted just because there breed dosnt match the characteristics!

THat's just silly. A QH often "matches the characteristics" of an english horse! All horses are built differently.

I know plenty of QH's that are ridden English and they are pretty good movers! The breed has nothing to do with it. It's what's inside that counts and QH's have a lot of heart!

Some people do feel that way. I am one who feels that any horse can be ridden any style of riding, if they are taught to do it... so maybe they aren't CHAMPION level, but the more a horse knows the better of it is... I like a well rounded horse. I have my AQHA mare that does, English/Western Pleasure. Jumping, Contesting, Ranch Work, and also is learning Dressage (if ever so slowly)... QH's are a great all round horse.

I've seen some very nice QHs doing dressage. I prefer my Arabs, but they still looked nice doing it!

i ride my qh in english and i do dressage, jumping, and soon eventing. But i am still working on the land on the right canter. Yeah on friday i keep jumping over a sand pill on the right lead b/c me and her sux going right and this pile is at lease 4-5 feet long and 2 feet wide. My trainer thoughts i went nuts.

That's why the QH is dubbed the "most versatile breed."

When I rode english during my lessons I used the same horse I used during my western lessons because she's trained for both, and she's a QH. I'm not using her anymore simply because I was ready for more of a challenge.
