| Full Member | Pryor Mountain Herd injustices Ladies and gentleman the BLM called off the remaining round up and fell short of their quota after "Brumby", a mare, tied up severely the night after she was brought in. Like Ginger Kathrens and many wild horse advocates stated, it's too long a journey for this time of year. Young foals, we're talking barely month olds, were forced to make the 10-15 mile journey from 9,000ft+ elevation to 3,000ft elevation. Videos show exhausted horses barely loping in, many trotting in. The aftermath is unreal. Young horses turned up so sore footed they can barely walk and that alone has spared a barely 2 wk old filly up on the mountain slated for removal because of how poor the other foals are. The lameness isn't limited just to the babies: many of the adult horses are limping and injured. Want to know the sick part? Videos show that RELEASED horses are lame and crippled back up on the mountain in cougar territory. Jasmine, Cloud's 2009 daughter is so lame she can barely walk, but she's free! Many wild horse activists are calling for a lawsuit (which is being drafted up) outlining the abuse and neglect towards these animals. Especially since the whole round up is being overseen by a convicted felon who pled guilty to illegally rounding up wild horses and transporting them to slaughter in Texas. This is the man, David Cattoor, who your tax dollars is paying to round up the Pryor herd and many other herds such as the Challis, ID herd. Mr. Carthoor and his disgusting wife, Sue Cattoor, also chased off an ABC news crew who was interviewing Ms. Kathrens and denied access to the pens on several occasions. They also denied access to the Independent Humane Observer and tried to make them sign contracts as BLM Temporary Volunteers which outlines that they cannot make a statement to the public or any media outlet without consent of the BLM. Nice way to silence someone who's seen things like their son Troy Cattoor using a cattle prod on a horse refusing to go through a chute, huh? That's just one of the things outlined in the upcoming suit. Everything is being written up and presented in the upcoming lawsuit. How's that for fact? This is all going to be public record so BLM enthusiasts beware. Horses being held for adoption include the 21/22 year old mare Grumpy Grulla and the 19 year old band stallion Conquistador. Those two horses will be available for "adoption" or rather UNQUESTIONED SALE due to their age. Thank you "Burns Bill" signed by mr. George W. Bush back in December. How cruel is that? Good news is that Cloud and PART of his herd have been released. Videos outlining his desperate attempts to drive his mares back to the pens to pick up their lost family members are now all over youtube. It's not propaganda folks; it's real life being caught by people not likely to continue the BLM's bullcrap propaganda! A great PSA on this: But the problem isn't just the Pryor and McCullough herds. It goes much deeper. Let this just serve as an eye opener. Heads up folks! The upcoming lesser known Sheldon round up is NOT A BLM ROUND UP! It's done by Fish and Game and is slated to remove 400 wild horses off the Sheldon Range. It's US Fish and Wildlife! The June 2006 round at Sheldon is well known for ghastly images of foals left hog-tied in desert heat for wranglers to pick up later. They found eight of them..... five were already dead. Ten of the Sheldon horses were seized by RCMP in Alberta Canada, a hub for horse slaughter. In a letter to the Director of U.S. Fish and wildlife, Nick Rahall, Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, stated, "The RCMP seizure clearly exposes the inadequacy of the existing regulatory framework... Moreover, existing procedures to track adopted animals once they have been transferred to the care of an adoption agent can no longer be assumed to be effective." The Bureau of U.S. Fish and Wildlife does not have an adoption program. They shuffle the horses in large numbers and deal them out to three “carefully screened” agencies. Our tax dollars are paying these “carefully screened” agencies $300 per horse to cart them away and adopt them out. Apparently U.S. Fish and Wildlife uses a different dictionary than the rest of us. Here are examples of what they consider careful screening:

Thank you so much for posting this information for EVERYONE to see. I try to tell about all this stuff, but because I don't have the links for it to post here, I must be lying. Someone needs to tell it like it really is. To hear it from the BLM, well, you know.....they leave out the bad stuff. Yup....turning wild horses back out lame, without doctoring them first and getting them sound again,.......here it is over a week later, and a lot of them are still hobbling around. NOW, someone tell me just how concerned for their well being the BLM really is.

uh.... Did you not see the condition of the horses brought in? Show me ONE skinny horse! Most of those wild feral creatures were fatter then many lazy pasture pets in captivity. My buddy in Australia who works on Brumby and Station horses was SHOCKED at how good they looked compared to the weedy things she's used to seeing! She actually said "you guys are pulling my leg, those are Quarter Horses!" Yeah nope. They were Cloud and his band. The fact you BELIEVE the BLM's propaganda is sad. They've already stated full on they can't afford to manage the horses they're currently holding in pens for long term care. What makes you think they're going to spend the money to place them on big green happy pastures? I think it's a tissue of lies to try and placate the public why them POSSIBLY moving horses to other horse rescue and rehabilitation facilities. Many of which pull horses from slaughter. There's no long term plan in place aside from their proposed euthanasia idea which caused a massive uproar across the country and in the international horse circles. |

and I LOVE IT! Someone requested my embedded link be taken down! Folks just go to YouTube and look up "Wild Horse PSA" it has Viggo Mortensen and Cheryl Crow with a ton of valuable information regarding the truth surrounding the ROAM act and "long term management".

The fact you belive the Cloud Foundation is sad. Yes they cannot afford to keep these horses, adoptions are down, feed is up, and the budget has been cut. The BLM pays $475 per horse on long term pasture per year (which is less than what Mrs. Pickens wanted them to pay her) so they can live a happy life. They are trying their best. Yes, the BLM is over their head, but the American public won't let them do anything about it and no one wants to give more money. So what is it that you want them to do?

$475 A YEAR?! Jesus christ on a cracker it costs me more then that to pasture board a horse for a MONTH with the cost of hay! Plus if you put a horse out on range with turf such like Oklahoma and Kansas which isn't nearly as rocky and is somewhat clay based and more deep fertile soil then it is sand you're going to HAVE to take care of their feet or risk severe problems. So are they doing these horses feet? If not... Why not? It doesn't make sense. Wild horses have their hooves naturally broken and chipped by the terrain they live on which is almost always mountainous, rocky, desert terrain. They travel miles and miles not just a few acres a day in most instances. Think about it. Do the math. The Cloud Foundation has hard core video proof so do several other foundations that spend time taking the real photos that don't always paint a happy picture. The BLM is being political by smiling and nodding even when horses are dying. You have any idea the number of BLM horses wind up at slaughter before the year comes up and their titles are sent? You really think the BLM sends people out to CHECK on the hundreds of horses they adopt out between adoption day and a year passes? Guess again. |

I live in Oklahoma and i have personally seen these wild horses that are kept out on pasture here and they are doing well. I don't agree with the gatherings or the BLM but i just wanted to say that information is true they are kept in holding but on acres free roaming not in pens. I almost had a one on one with a stally because he thought i was too close to his family.

I am curious is there any footage of the mustangs that are starving and bad off? I am being serious. Everything that I have seen with the roundups the horses coming in are fatter than mine and that's saying something lol. I haven't seen any that look deprived of food. I could be wrong but would like to see if it's out there.
