| Senior Member+ | i think there's a lot more pros than cons. a few cons may be that when you're a horse owner with your own property, you don't meet other horsie people as much, you spend an arm and a leg for board,UMMM, you may or may not have an arena or an owner to help you out if you need it, that's about it.lol

| Senior Member+ | Well I dont know from expirence, but a con is you cant really go on vacation unless you have someone that you REALLY trust watching your horse. But then again, when you hae a horse on your own property, who needs vacation?

| Senior Member+ | I LOVE boarding! I like meeting new people, getting conections, showing off (lol), having riding buddies, etc. Though It'd be nice to save some money by having my own place, you know? |

| Full Member | I have done both. I board at an indoor during the winter months and keep my horse at home during the summer. pros of owning -you can always ride whenever you want...no lessons in the arena, no other people lunging there horses, basically-getting in your way -it is an awsome feeling to wake up in the morning and look at your window only to see your best friend waiting for you to come feed. -you are in complete control of your horse, if something goes wrong-it is completely up to you as to what actions are going to be taken cons -you always have to arrange for someone to feed your horse if you go away -you have to trailer to lessons or pay extra for a trainer to come to you -you have to worry about hauling hay and buying all of the supplements and feed |

| Senior Member+ | I boarded for four years. A year and a half ago, my parents bought a house with property so that we could keep our horses at home; and I have been dying to go back to the barn ever since. PROS of keeping your horses home: *Always accesable *Can ride whenever *Feed when you like *It does not matter what you are wearing or what you look like *No one will judge you or how you treat your horse, save your neighbors CONS " " " " ": *It is just you and your horses *No one to readily assist if needed, unless you have family members of neighbors of such stature *Horses can not always be on 24/7 watch such as in certain barn situations *It can get lonely for the horses *Horses do not have the environment that they would at a barn I might add PROS and CONS of boarding later, but for now, I am tired.

I think it'd be great to board somewhere because you can meet so many people and be involved with events going on at your stable and you probably have a better chance of being "seen" if you board at a well known stable. But it would also be great to live on your own property and be able to just wake up and walk out your door into the pasture. But it's a lot of responsibility, too. You don't need to live on your own farm to know that. - Meg
